Patta cobi or Cabbage Wadi or Cabbage Fritters are steamed cakes/wadi’s made from grated patta cobi/cabbage.It is a traditional Maharashtrian dish.It is prepared similarly like that of Kothimbeer Wadi’s.One can fry or shallow fry the wadi’s.
Cabbage is not only nutritious but also a healthy vegetable.Children generally don’t love eating cabbage.So making wadi’s from it is a good option to consume the cabbage.

INGREDIENTS :
- 2 cups grated cabbage
- ½ cup besan/gram flour
- ¼ cup rice flour
- ½ cup chopped coriander
- 7-8 green chillies
- 8-9 garlic cloves
- 1 tsp carom seeds/ओवा
- 1 tsp cumin seeds/jeera
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- Oil for cooking
METHOD :
- First grate the cabbage.
- Wash the grated cabbage and then remove the excess water from the cabbage by pressing it with the help of your palms.
- The grated cabbage should get completely dry or else it will create problem while making the wadi’s.
- Now grind the green chillies,cumin seeds/jeera,carom seeds and garlic to a fine paste.
- In a bowl add grated cabbage,the garlic-chilli paste,besan,rice flour,turmeric powder,salt and chopped coriander leaves.
- Give it a nice mix.
- Now bind everything nicely with the help of your hands.
- Generally you don’t need to add water,as the grated cabbage has enough amount of moisture contain.
- Add lemon juice and mix well.
- Keep water in the steamer to boil.
- Grease the plate with oil.
- Pour the cabbage mixture into the plate.
- Spread it evenly.
- Keep the plates into the steamer for steaming.
- After 15-20 minutes remove the plates from steamer.
- Keep it aside to get cooler.
- Add oil to the pan and let it get warmer.
- Meanwhile cut the cabbage wadi’s in the plate into square pieces.
- Once the oil in the pan gets heated add the wadi’s to the oil.
- Fry the wadi’s till they turn golden brown.
- Remove the fried wadi’s into the plate.
- Your crispy Cabbage Wadi’s are ready to eat.
- Serve it with tomato ketchup.
