Green Moong Dal Bhaji | Hirvya Mugache Bhaji  or pakoda or fritters is the deep fried snack recipe that is prepared with whole green moong dal or spilt green moong dal.

It is a great snack recipe that can be eaten during cold winter evenings or during rainy seasons.A favourite evening snacks that can be prepared during any gathering or with your family with a hot cup of tea or coffee.

These bhaji’s contains whole green moong dal or spilt green moong dal along with green chillies-garlic paste and freshly chopped coriander.You just have to soak the lentils for 3-4 hours and then blend them to paste.This are deep fried till they get crispy texture from outside and soft inside.

Normally these are served with mint chutney or green chutney or tamrind chutney or tomato sauce.

Green Moong Dal Bhaji | Hirvya Mugache Bhaji | Moong Dal Pakoda

(1 CUP = 200 ML)



INGREDIENTS :

  • 1 ½ cup soaked spilt green moong dal
  • ¼ cup rice flour
  • 5-6 green chillies
  • 7-8 cloves of garlic
  • ½ tsp jeera/cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp ova/ajwain/carom seeds
  • ¼ tsp haldi/turmeric powder
  • Chopped fresh coriander
  • Salt to taste

METHOD :

  • In a bowl first soak the spilt green moong dal for 3-4 hours.
  • After nicely soaking drain the water and grind the dal to semi coarse paste in a grinder.
  • Now in a mixer grinder add green chillies,garlic cloves,jeera,carom seeds.
  • Grind all this to a fine paste.
  • In a bowl now add the grinded moong dal paste.
  • Next add the rice flour,chilli-garlic paste,salt and chopped coriander.
  • Mix everything well.
  • In a pan or kadhai heat the oil.
  • Let the oil get nicely heated.
  • Now drop the bhaji’s or pakoda batter into the medium hot oil.
  • Fry till crisp and golden.
  • Flip them a couple of times for even cooking.
  • Once the bhaji or pakoda becomes crisp and golden then remove them into a plate.
  • Your Crisp Green moong dal bhaji or pakoda’s are ready.
  • Serve this hot crisp bhaji or pakoda with any chutney or tomato sauce.

RECIPE NOTES :

  • The recipe can be doubled or tripled.
  • You can use whole green moong dal either.
  • Soak it for 3-4 hours or overnight.
  • See that you grind the dal to a semi coarse texture.
  • The consistency of batter should be semi-thick.
  • Fry on medium to high flame.
