The farali idli-dhokla premix is the mix of sama ke chawal(bhagar / barnyard millets) and sabudana (sago/tapioca pearls).This premix is mixed with curd and green chilli-ginger paste.It is then steamed and then tempered with jeera.This dhokla comes out too soft,light and spongy.This is totally a gluten free dish.

Farali Dhokla Recipe | Vrat Dhokla | Upwas Dhokla

INGREDIENTS :
- 1 cup Idli-Dhokla Premix (click here for recipe)
- ½ cup Curd / dahi
- 2-3 tsp Green chilli-ginger paste
- ¼ tsp Baking soda
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp Jeera/cumin seeds for tempering
- Chopped fresh Coriander for garnishing
- Water as required (about ¾ cup to 1 cup)

METHOD :
- First keep water for boiling in the steamer.
- Then grease the dhokla plate with oil and keep aside.
- In a bowl add the farali idli-dhokla premix.
- To it add the curd/dahi.
- Next add green chilli-ginger paste.(adjust according to your taste).
- Add salt as per taste.
- Add water as required.(see that you don’t add too much of water)
- The consistency of batter should be medium thick like that we keep for our regular dhokla’s.
- Give a nice mix.
- Now add baking soda and give a final mix.
- Immediately pour the batter into the greased plate.
- Keep the plate into the steamer.
- Steam the dhokla’s for 10-15 minutes.
- After steaming remove the plate from steamer.
- Now cut the dhokla’s.
- In a small kadhai pour oil for tempering.
- Once oil gets heated add jeera.
- Pour this tempering over the dhokla’s.
- Garnish it with fresh chopped coriander.
- Serve Farali Dhokla Recipe | Vrat Dhokla | Upwas Dhokla with vrat ki chutney.

RECIPE NOTES :
- Take care that you don’t add too much of water as the batter may become too flowy.
- If in case the batter becomes flowy or runny add a amount of the premix flour to get the right idli batter consistency.
- Don’t add too much of baking soda because then they would taste soapy.
- Add baking soda just before keeping for steaming.
- Steam atleast for 10-15 minutes.
