Chavli-Palkache Vade a tasty and healthy fritter which is not only crispy but also very delicious.Here chavli(चावली) is the black eyed beans or lobiya(लोबिया) in hindi and palak(पालक) is nothing but spinach.The combination of these two with some spices is chavli palakache vade.So lets quick start with the recipe….

(1 CUP = 250 ML)



INGREDIENTS :



  • 2 cups soaked Chavli / lobiya / black eyed beans(चवळी)
  • 1 cup chopped spinach(पालक)
  • 8-10 cloves of garlic(लसून)
  • 1 inch ginger(अद्रक)
  • 5-6 green chillies (adjust as per taste)(हिरवी मिरची)
  • 1-2 tsp lemon juice(लिंबू रस)
  • ½ cup besan/gram flour(बेसन)
  • ¼ cup rice flour(तांदळाचे पीठ)
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder(हळद)
  • 1 tsp carom seeds(ओवा)
  • 1 tbsp fennel seeds(सौंफ/बडीसोप)
  • 1 tbsp coriander seeds(धने)
  • 1 tsp (जीरा)
  • Salt as per taste



METHOD :



  • First soak the chavli for about 2-3 hours.
  • Once nicely soaked drain the excess water from it.
  • Wash and chop the spinach finely.
  • Coarsely grind the chavli.
  • Add water if required.
  • The consistency of the chavli batter should be not to thick and not too flowy.
  • Remove it in a bowl.
  • Now in a mixer grinder add coriander seeds,fennel seeds,carom seeds and jeera.
  • Grind to a semi coarse powder.
  • Now place it aside.
  • Grind green chillies,garlic cloves and ginger to a fine paste.
  • In a bowl add grinded chavli paste.
  • To it add chopped spinach,green chilli,ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder,semi coarsely grinded powder (of coriander seed,carom seeds,fennel seeds &jeera),lemon juice,besan,rice flour and salt as per taste.
  • Give everything a nice mix.
  • No need of adding extra water.
  • Your batter for chavli palak vade is ready.
  • Keep oil for heating in a pan.
  • Oil your palm.
  • Place a small ball sized batter on your palm.
  • Flatten to round shape and make hole in the center looking like donut.
  • Now slowly slide vada into the hot oil.
  • Fry the vada on a medium flame so that it gets cook evenly from inside also.
  • Fry the vada’s till it turns golden brown.
  • Remove them into the plate.
  • Your crispy and tasty Chavli-Palkache Vade are ready.
  • Serve them hot with tomato sauce.
