Sunthwada | Dhaniya Panjiri Recipe  a healthy form of food that is offered to Lord Krishna during Janmashtami.As per Ayurveda it has numerous health benefits.

My mother always used to prepare it on the eve of Janmashtmi.Each and every ingredient added to this has its own health importance.This is also very beneficial for lactating mothers and for the growing children and also for people of all age groups.

The basic important ingredients of sunthwada are daniya or coriander seeds,mishri/khadi-saakhar/rock sugar and sunth/dry ginger powder.Here I have dry roasted slightly the coriander seeds.

I have added the dry dates or kharik to this. But its totally optional.Also the dry fruits added are as per your choice.This extra ingredients makes it more healthy and nutritious.

Sunth powder or gry ginger powder helps in digestion, reduce nausea and helps to fight the flu and common cold.

Coriander or dhaniya is rich in fibres,calcium and is a antioxidant.It is cold in nature due to which it reduces the heat of the body and acidity and also helps in digestion problems.It also helps to reduce urine infection and also helps to maintain the blood sugar level.

Rock sugar or Mishri or Khadi-saakhar is also one of the most beneficial type of sugar in Ayurvedic. It is not only a good mouth freshener but also helps to reduce the problems of indigestion. It helps to increase the levels of hemoglobin in the blood.It reduces the cough and is one of the best source of energy.There are many health benefits of consuming rock sugar as it contains numerous vitamins, minerals and amino acid. Consuming rock sugar candy provides relief from a sore throat and cough.It has essential nutrients to remove the throat swelling.

This Sunthvada or Panjiri is very beneficial for our eyes and also it is good for our stomach as it reduces the problems of indigestion.Its consumption provides energy to the body.

INGREDIENTS :

  • ½ cup dry roasted coriander seeds / धनिया / धने
  • 1 tbsp dry ginder powder / सुंठ
  • 1-2 tbsp rock sugar powder / खडीसाखर / मिश्री
  • ¼ cup dry dates / खारीक
  • ½ cup dry coconut slices / सुखं खोबरं
  • Dry fruits like cheshew nuts,almonds and kishmish as per your choice.

METHOD :

  • First dry roast the coriander seeds.
  • Next crush the dry ginger to a powder so that it would be easy to grind it in a mixer.
  • Same way crush the rock sugar to a small pieces.
  • Now in a mixer jar add dry coconut slices,roasted coriander seeds,dry dates,sunth powder,rock sugar and dry fruits.
  • Grind it to a fine powder.
  • Remove it into a plate.
  • Add the kishmish to it.
  • Mix well.
  • Your Sunthwada / Dhaniya-Sunth Panjiri is ready.
