Rajgira Sheera or Halwa is one more nutritious and healthy sweet dish which usually consumed during fasting prepared for fasting as it is very easy to digest and keep your stomach full for long period of time.Rajgira or Amarnath seeds are good source of calcium,proteins,amino acids and rich in iron,magnesium and vitamin A,B & C too .It is a very healthy food option for babies,small childrens as well as for grown ups and the older people.I first made it as a porridge (पेज) for my younger daughter when she had just started feeding her first meal.It was a very easy dish to make for its healthy benefits.I always have it as a quick breakfast for my daughters….they are also fond of it.A very easy recipe to prepare with just fewer ingredients easily available in our kitchen.You may buy the Rajgira flour from the local stores.Here I have prepared it in home itself by grinding the rajgira seeds to a fine powder in the mixer grinder.The homemade’s are always healthy and safe foods so I always try making them in my kitchen.This recipe is a good option for fasting.Here are more fasting recipes from my blog which you can prepare during the day’s of fast/vrat/upvaas.

INGREDIENTS :

  • ¾ cup rajgira flour
  • ½ – ¾ cup sugar (adjust as per your taste)
  • ¼ cup desi ghee
  • 1-2 cup of hot milk
  • ¼ tsp cardamom powder
  • Chopped dry fruits for garnishing



METHOD :

  • First keep milk for heating.
  • To a pan add the ghee.
  • Once ghee gets heated up add the rajgira flour.
  • Roast the flour nicely on medium flame so that it gets roasted evenly and not get burnt.
  • Once it is roasted you will see a the flour changes its colour to brown colour also it releases a nutty aroma.
  • Now add the hot milk slowly to the roasted rajgira flour.
  • Continousely keep on stirring so that no lumps are formed.
  • Once the milk is completely absorbed add the sugar to the pan.
  • Again give it a quick stir.
  • When the sugar completely melts add the cardamom powder and the dry fruits.
  • Mix well.
  • Cook it for next 5-10 minutes.
  • Your Rajgira Sheera is ready to it.
  • Garnish it with chopped pista and almonds and serve hot.
