MOONG DAL KHICHDI | MOONGACHI KHICHDI is a dish of Rice and Lentils (dal) i.e. moong-dal or split green gram.Recently Khichdi has been declared as national dish of India.

Moong dal and rice combination in khichdi is rich in proteins and carbohydrates.Also Moong dal is light,easy to digest and also cooks fast.So it is one of the easiest and quickest recipe to make.

It is consider as one of the healthy dish.It is one of the first solid food that babies eat.Also it is good remedy dish for the person suffering from stomach upset.It is one of the easily digestable food.The ingredients in this dish are very easy i.e.hing/asatofida,cumin seeds,mustard seeds,garlic and if needed chillies.

MOONG DAL KHICHDI | MOONGACHI KHICHDI | मूगाची खिचडी

INGREDIENTS :

  • 1 cup rice
  • 3/4 cup moong dal
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds/ jeera
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds/ mohri
  • 7-8 crushed garlic cloves
  • 4-5 chopped green chillies
  • Asatofida /hing for tempering
  • ½ -1 tsp turmeric powder
  • Curry leaves
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
  • 2-3 tbsp Oil / Ghee for cooking
  • 5-6 cups Water (if you need thin consistency of khichdi add 6-7 cups of water)



METHOD :

  • First wash the rice and moong dal properly.
  • Remove the excess of water and drain the water.
  • Keep water to heat for adding in the khichdi.
  • In a cooker pan add oil/ghee.(You can cook the khichdi without cooker also.)
  • Temper it with hing,cumin seeds,mustard seeds and curry leaves.
  • Now add crushed garlic.
  • Once the garlic turns brown add chopped chillies(optional) .
  • Add turmeric powder to the tempering.
  • Now add the washed rice and moong dal to the pan and give it a nice mix.
  • Add coriander leaves and salt to the pan.
  • Mix everything well.
  • Pour the required amount warm water and again give it a nice mix.
  • Put the lid of the cooker and let the khichdi cook for 3-4 whistles.
  • After the cooker gets cool down remove the lid of the cooker.
  • Your Moong Dal Khichdi is ready to eat.
  • Serve it with ghee and fresh cup of curd,kadhi.



STEP BY STEP METHOD OF PREPARING MOONG DAL KHICHDI | MOONGACHI KHICHDI :



  • First wash the rice and moong dal properly.

  • Your Moong Dal Khichdi is ready to eat.

  • Serve it with ghee and fresh cup of curd or hot kadhi
